CUSTOM MADE CRYSTAL CHANDELIERS
There are only a few manufacturers in Sweden with the ability and possibility to produce custom made crystal chandeliers. Therefore, most of these requests from customers on the market are received by Krebs. Our customers consist of a mix of interior- and other types of designers, private individuals and companies that are looking to purchase one or more custom designed crystal chandelier. In some cases, the only request is for us to manufacture an existing chandelier in a different finish, and in other cases we create a brand new design or chandeliers in larger sizes than our standard measurements. No matter what the customer’s wish is, we can always make it possible. When creating a new design, an intimate collaboration is created between the customer and Krebs. This is a process that takes time. We begin by producing a sketch of an idea that is presented to the customer, and this sketch is then developed further in collaboration with the customer. The idea progressively turns into a concept that works both practically and visually. A great example is when Krebs created crystal chandeliers for Casino Cosmopol in Stockholm. The casino was located in a building which used to be an old movie theatre, and the goal was to renovate the entire interior and restore it and give it back its original shine. The original lighting consisted of enormous lamps made from fabric, and Casino Cosmopol wanted to recapture the same emotion, but turn it into a more luxurious version. So I studied old photographs, and the interior itself, carefully and came up with the idea of the crystal chandelier Saturnus. The finished product captured an emotion that united the history of the premises with their new role – hosting a casino. Sometimes you’re really looking for something gigantic, and what you need to think about in those cases is to choose a design that works on a larger scale. An example of this is the crystal chandeliers Krebs created for Urban Outfitters in Stockholm. These chandeliers also come in smaller sizes. These can be found in for example in Sagerska Palatset, the formal residency of the Swedish prime minister. And now also even bigger at Hotel Kungsträdgården (Kings garden)
FOUR CUSTOM MADE CRYSTAL CHANDELIERS
PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL: DIFFERENT FINISH REQUEST
A family fell in love with Krebs’ crystal chandelier Nobel, art 212c, but wished to receive it in a nickel finish. This finish did not exist in our range on this specific design. So we created a new crystal chandelier that met this family’s specific requirements. Their awaited crystal chandelier arrived in perfect timing – just before Christmas. And the result was exactly what they had wished for.
THE ODD FELLOWS HALL-A BIT LARGER CHANDELIER
ODD FELLOWS ORDENSHUS - EN STÖRRE TAKKRONA I EMPIRESTIL
The historic building of Odd Fellows’ House of the Orders is situated in the center of the Swedish city of Malmö. This is a palace with halls out of the ordinary. To complement the beautiful setting, Odd Fellows chose a crystal chandelier with an empiric design, Zimba art 112. This is a large scale piece that normally measures 115x117 cm, but it was still not large enough. So instead, we created two crystal chandeliers that measured 190x140 cm each with the Zimba design as a reference point. These two pieces fit perfectly into the Odd Fellows’ building and today, they can be admired in the main room of the palace.
PALACE HOTELL: SELF-DESIGNED CRYSTAL CHANDELIER
The design company Stylt Trampoli was assigned the task of designing a crystal chandelier that would match the newly renovated hotel, Palace Hotell in Gothenburg, Sweden. After producing an idea sketch, Stylt Trampoli turned to Krebs, where the sketch was further developed and refined. We solved the practical issues with the original sketch, and the final result was several unique crystal chandeliers that can be found exclusively at Palace Hotel.
ROGN: CO-DESIGNED PLAFOND
When Norwegian company Rogn received a request for an extra-large plafond in a Baroque style, they turned to Krebs for advice. We worked out a proposal for a possible solution where customer’s previous order of a Baroque chandelier was used as a reference point: Pompe art 105c in nickel. The final result was an exclusive plafond with a nickel framework and Baroque prisms.
